The Lubbock-Cooper Band is one of the premier band programs in the state of Texas.
It takes our whole community coming together to continue that legacy.
Volunteering with band boosters is a great way to be a part of the band experience with your kids.   When you volunteer, you earn points that help offset the cost of your student participating in the band.

WE NEED YOU!
There are many opportunities to use your gifts and talents
to enhance the band experience for your kids.

  • If you are unable to make the training, please contact the Manager On Duty for the day of your shift so they can walk you through the process.
Details: The TNT Fireworks stand is one of the fun ways you can support the Pirate Pride Band by volunteering to work one or more shifts. It is one of our largest fundraisers for the year and also one of the few opportunities that your band student can work along side you. Join in the fun and sign up for as many shifts as you'd like.
  • Points: You will earn ONE POINT FOR EACH HOUR worked.  Please ARRIVE 15 MIN before your shift to be trained.  Only those signed up will earn points, so if your band student or another family member or friend chooses to work with you, they will only earn points if they are signed up.
  • SHIFT POSITIONS - Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your shift for training refresher and information updates from the shift prior to yours.
    • Cashier: There will be designated cashier positions for each shift. The cashier must be an ADULT BOOSTER (No Students. Those signing up as cashiers must attend 1 of 3 trainings on TBD at 10AM, 2PM or 6PM to learn the new system.
    • Window Sales: Those working window sales will charm customers into purchasing the variety of fireworks available in which proceeds from the sale go to support the Pirate Pride Band and then pass them over to the cashier for checkout. Shift workers will keep the stand picked up and stocked (on days when there is not a designated stocker) as time allows.
    • Stocker/Backup Window Sales: On the busier shifts, there will be a designated stocker whose main job will be to keep the shelves stocked. When stocking is not being needed, they will act as an additional sales person. If it is a closing shift (6PM-12PM) the stocker will make sure the stand is stocked and ready for the following day.
  • Student Workers:  (incoming 8th grade - 12th grade band students) When a student signs up, there must be at least one adult working.  So when you sign up please indicate in the comments if a student will be working AND their first and last name. FOR EXAMPLE: Student worker - John Smith
  • Apps: Please bring your cell phone with the following apps downloaded:
    • Quick Scan by iHandy (iTunes) OR Barcode Scanner by Zxing Team (Google Play Store) - for use in scanning coupons and fireworks demo video QR codes to share with customers
    • Power strips will be available for charging. Bring your charging block and cable.
  • Overnight Shifts:  EARNS 5 POINTS.  We will have an RV/camper for you to sleep in.  Sign Up Genius won't allow us to make a 10:00pm-10:00am shift because it spans 2 days.  So, when applicable, please sign up for BOTH the 10:00pm-11:55pm AND the 12:00am-10:00am time slots when you sign up for an overnight shift.  FOR EXAMPLE, if you are staying overnight on a Sunday, you will need to sign up for 10:00pm-11:55pm Sunday night as well as 12:00am-10:00am Monday morning.
  • Cancellations:  If you need to cancel your shift, please try to do so at least 2 days in advance so someone else can take it.  If canceling last minute, please contact the MOD for that day.

South plains Fair

Fair Entry & Parking Passes
If you have signed up to work the fair, you OR your band student can pick up the entry and parking passes at the band hall from Mr. Mayo.
If you work a shift on the weekend, please make sure to pick up on Friday.

NOTE: You might have to pick up more than once as we currently don’t have enough for everyone,
everyday. More will be coming soon!

You get 1 parking pass per day and 1 entry pass per day. Get your hand stamped if you are working multiple shifts in the same day.

IMPORTANT: Don’t leave the Parking Passes in the heat. They are heat sensitive and will turn black and be unusable.

When: TBD
Where: South Plains Fair Grounds (building is just inside the main gate on the right)
Details:
The South Plains Fair is our largest money making event each year. Last year we were fortunate enough to purchase a permanent building rather than using a mobile trailer. The building is air conditioned and is a great place to come in and sit and rest and enjoy some good fair grub.
This year we are changing up our shifts and shortening them to 2 hour shifts (Except for a 4 evenings in which the fair is open till 12:00. The shift will then be 3 hours). If you want to work a longer shift simply sign up to work back-to-back shifts.
We also have more specific positions for sign up. Depending on the need and time of day the shift could have you working 2 or more positions at a time.
Position details are as follows:
  • Cashier: Take orders and accept payments. All orders will run through our new iPad and Square system.
  • Front Cleaner: Wipe off tables and front counter, sweep, empty trash when needed.
  • Soda Fountain: Fill drink orders.
  • Front Food Pass: Pick up completed food orders from the window and hand to customers.
  • Batter Station: Batter and prepare all fried items for handoff to the fryers.
  • Fryer: Man the fryers and hand off fried food to the Expeditor and/or Topping Station
  • Expeditor: Call new orders out to the fryers and make sure all orders are pulled together and complete before sending to the front.
  • Topping Station: Add various toppings to the dishes as specified in the order.
  • Dishwasher: Washes dishes as needed to keep them from piling up.
  • Floater: Work were needed depending on time of day and shift needs.
While you are signing up for a specific position(s), please keep in mind that you might be shifted around based on need during your shift.
The final shift of the evening does not go home until everything is cleaned up and put away.

Points: 1 point per hour worked

Pre-game meals are pre-ordered meals for any student in the band who wants a meal prior to the HOME and LOCAL AWAY games. This allows band students to eat a good meal without having to have parents bring them something or drive into town for food between school letting out and students reporting to the band hall at 5:00. These meals are catered by various restaurants so very little prep is involved.

Pre-game meal workers: will setup the serving station, serve the meal to students and clean up.

Bus Sponsors/chaperones

You are not responsible for major behavior issues.
